A female social media influencer who had previously experienced racial discrimination from Mexicans sparked controversy by using a Messi jersey as a rag.

On July 31, Beijing time, Yoon Soo-jin, a South Korean social media influencer who had previously received public support from FIFA for suffering racial discrimination, sparked controversy. She used Argentine star Lionel Messi's jersey as a foot mat, mop, and rag, and posted the video on social media, drawing criticism from numerous fans who accused her of lacking respect.

Recently, South Korean female blogger Yoon Su-jin (online name inocat_t) has once again become embroiled in controversy due to a video. In the video, she uses Argentine football star Lionel Messi's number 10 jersey as a footrest, and also uses it to wipe windows and mop the floor. This has sparked strong outrage among Argentine fans, who criticize her for insulting football culture and question her blatant double standards, suggesting she is now humiliating others in a different way after experiencing racial discrimination herself.

The video, uploaded on the 20th of this month, is titled "How to fully use Messi's jersey." In the video, Yoon Soo-jin, wearing a Brazil jersey, first lays an Argentina jersey with Messi's name and number 10 printed on it on the ground and steps on it. She then uses the jersey to wipe glass and mop the floor, as if using it as a cleaning cloth.

At the time, Argentina had just lost the World Cup final, and some Brazilian and Mexican fans cheered in the comments section, believing the video was simply a cultural expression among fans. However, many netizens and Argentine fans criticized the video for crossing the line, arguing that it deliberately humiliated Messi and the Argentine national team and showed a lack of respect.

The controversy surrounding this incident stems from an experience Yoon Soo-jin had a month prior. On June 11, while watching a match between South Korea and the Czech Republic at the Guadalajara Stadium, a Mexican fan behind Yoon Soo-jin suddenly made a gesture of pulling at the corner of his eye towards the camera. This gesture, considered a racist act against Asians, was captured on video and uploaded to social media, sparking global condemnation.

The man involved was later identified by netizens as the president of an engineering association in Jalisco, Mexico. He eventually issued a public apology and resigned, and FIFA blacklisted his World Cup account as punishment.
