According to Turkish journalist Jagiz Sabvunguğlu, Trabzonspor has offered Salah a lucrative contract after meeting with his agent, with a two-year term and an annual salary of 17 million euros.
Salah is generally open to accepting Trabzonspor's offer and continuing his career in Turkey. Sources say he will consult with his family before making a decision. Currently, negotiations between the Turkish Super League powerhouse and the striker's agent are very concrete. Sabvunguoglu stated that the two sides have also discussed Salah's shirt sales revenue share, with the player's side believing that 20% to 25% is sufficient.
Trabzonspor will not have to pay a transfer fee for Salah. Salah had already terminated his contract with Liverpool a year early; his original contract was set to expire in 2027, and his departure from Anfield Road was officially announced this spring. Therefore, Salah has been a free agent since July 1st, and he has several other options besides Trabzonspor.
Both Major League Soccer (MLS) and Saudi clubs have expressed interest in him, but the most concrete talks recently have been with Trabzonspor's league rivals, Besiktas. In mid-July, media reports indicated that Salah's move to the Istanbul-based club was nearing completion. Shortly after, Besiktas president Serdar Adal confirmed this, but also stated that problems had arisen in the negotiations.
Salah's agent then raised his commission demands at the last minute, which Besiktas was unwilling and unable to accept. A few days earlier, Besiktas sporting director Onel Özan reiterated that a possible transfer for Salah to the Bosphorus was no longer on the agenda. The original offer remains valid, consisting of a fixed annual salary of €10 million plus €2 million in bonuses, but will not be increased further. Salah's side now needs to take a step towards Besiktas for any possibility of reopening negotiations.
Now, Salah's transfer to Trabzonspor seems more likely than continuing negotiations with Besiktas.
