Argentine international and defender Facundo Medina has once again refuted conspiracy theories circulating on social media about Argentina losing to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, and revealed how he stopped his mother from discussing the topic.
In a preview of his interview for the program, the center-back recalled a conversation with his mother. He said, "I told her, 'Come on, are you going to believe this too? Stop talking nonsense!' I told her, 'Stop bothering me!'"
The Marseille defender made it clear that within the Argentine team, there has never been any explanation other than sporting reasons. On this point, his stance aligns with the statements made a few days earlier by Claudio Tapia, head coach Scaloni, and assistant coach Ayala.
In another segment of the trailer, he didn't reveal many details but reiterated his dissatisfaction with these claims. Facundo Medina said, "I told him, 'You're a fool. Why would you think we'd play like that in the game? We want to win just like everyone else, don't you think? If we win, I'll be happy. But if we lose, we have to accept it.'"
This isn't the first time Facundo Medina has publicly addressed these rumors. Back in Argentina, he spoke to his neighbors from his balcony, urging them not to believe the posts circulating online: "Don't believe those stupid things. You've seen it through photos and videos; it's always been a great team. Don't believe those stupid things. We're very upset about the loss. That's why some teammates didn't come here. We'll feel bad, we'll be sad. I know it's not good, because it's just a football match; there are more important things in life."
Finally, he emphasized the relationships within the Argentine team. According to him, this was one of the foundations that allowed the team to persevere through the most difficult times: "When the people around you are not only excellent players, but also better people, you can't help but give it your all."
