According to Milan News, Porto has held its first direct talks with AC Milan regarding Mexican striker Santiago Jiménez. Milan has set a transfer fee for the forward, hoping to receive at least €20 million.
Jiménez is not in head coach Amorim's plans for the new season. Furthermore, he suffered a serious ankle injury last season and underwent surgery, resulting in a long absence and almost no playing time.
Due to injury recovery and his previous participation in the World Cup representing Mexico, Jimenez remains in Italy and was unable to travel with AC Milan to Australia for the preseason tour.
According to Milan News, Milan and Porto had their first direct contact today, and the two sides began discussing specific plans for a potential transfer.
Porto's current proposal is to loan Jiménez for one season, with an option to buy him at the end of the season.
However, Milan does not want to suffer financial losses in this deal, so the club hopes to recoup at least 20 million euros by selling Jimenez.
Besides Porto, Milan had also considered loaning Jiménez to Serie A side Lazio, but under the current circumstances, it would be difficult to reach an agreement on this plan.
