In an interview, Stuttgart striker Demirovic expressed his anticipation of facing his national team teammate Dzeko in the new season.

Demirovic said at the Stuttgart training camp in Grasau, Bavaria: "I have emphasized Dzeko's significance to me many times. It is very special to play against him in the Bundesliga now."

The Bosnian striker also spoke about Edin Dzeko's participation in the World Cup with him and the Bosnian national team this summer, followed by a one-year contract extension with newly promoted Schalke 04 on Monday. Demirovic praised his 40-year-old teammate, saying, "He has proven himself time and again to be an extremely good player. It's amazing to still be playing in the Bundesliga at this age." Demirovic stated that he hopes to continue "having a successful season" and "continue the performance of the past few years." Last season, Sebastian Hoeneß's Stuttgart finished fourth, qualifying for the Champions League for the second time in three years.
